10R Club Championships

Heat 4

The day started out with the wind not being able to make up it's mind and caused the PRO to reposition the buoys a couple of times (and get wet shorts a couple of times). The wind (and the PRO ) eventually settled and the day ended up being very pleasant and well below the forecast 33 degrees.

The day's winner was Ben Morris who sailed his usual steady (in front) form and kept Alan Gold at bay until after lunch when the added lunch weight or advancing age allowed Alan to get within striking distance however he held on to take the day from Alan by 2 points.

The racing was competitive all day with the surprise being our schoolboy member Philip McBride who sailed extremely well and despite 3 DNS due to gear failure (I told you not to let your grandfather set up your rig) ended up being only 5 points behind his 3rd place Grandfather Ian Backler. A good 4th from someone who only comes sailing 2 or 3 times a year.

Marblehead Club Championship

Heat 4

A good sailing day was had by all and thanks go to Ian Dowsett for PROing the event. While he did not sail he kindly loaned his new RM to Brian Walsh who, despite getting lost a few times came in a creditable 4th.

Jeff Watson put up a good fight however he could not catch Brian Purvis who ran out the winner on the day.

As this days event is for the Dawson Trophy it has therefore been won by Brian Purvis.

Congratulations to Ian Dowsett who is the 2014 club RM champion.

The Lesty Trophy has been won by Alan Gold who (fortunately for todays winners) could not sail in the days event.
